  • Carbon's is Going Green!

An increasing number of people want to work for and do business with green companies. To retain green employees and customers, companies must communicate their environmental policies and create a culture that is environmentally conscious. At New Carbon Company, Inc. we are educating our employees and customers on the benefits of saving our environment and step one is to be conscious of the effect we are having on it. Here are some of the ways we are 'going green': Paper use and recycling - We are training our employees to pay attention to the amount of paper they use and how they dispose of paper. Implementing standards for purchasing recycled paper, using paper and recycling will have a positive impact on our environment and our bottom line. - No more printing of reports - all are done electronically - No more printing of faxes - all faxes are now automatically scanned into our server and accessible electronically - No more printing of documents to be faxed - all documents are now scanned and sent electronically - Instead of printing and filing of invoices - we now store them electronically through the use of handheld PDA's - Customer's statements are being e-mailed versus printed, inserted into envelopes and mailed reducing cost and paper - Purchasing recycled paper - Re-using scrap paper for note taking versus purchasing and utilizing legal pads - Stockholder reports are being sent electronically Employee telecommuting - Allowing employees to telecommute can reduce a company's environmental footprint, greenhouse gas emissions and travel-related emissions. Studies show teleworkers tend to be more productive and have less absenteeism and turnover than those required to work from an office. - We have more workers on laptops working from home offices today than ever before - We are holding more conference calls via phone than traveling to reduce emissions Packaging intensity - Excessive product packaging has a detrimental impact on the planet. Our business has reviewed and is making changes as to how it makes and packages products to help decrease the amount of waste that is produced - Currently using recycled corrugated and recyclable film products in our packaging - Looking to eliminate plastic bails on the inside of our packaging to improve efficiencies and reduce their use - Using recyclable pallets and shrink wrap - Transferred from plastic cups to Styrofoam cups that are more environmentally friendly Energy efficiency - Our Company continues to search for ways to make our products and processes more energy efficient. - Employees are turning off lights in areas that are not being used - Personal radios and other electronic devices are being shut off during breaks
